NR, Mitec Telecom Inc.: $9.3 Million in New Orders MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Mitec Telecom Inc. has been awarded two contracts involving personal communications and satellite television distribution. This brings our backlog to over $14 million at the end of February 1999. The first contract for RF subsystems worth approximately $8.4 million Cdn. was received from a major OEM. Another contract worth $900,000 Cdn. from Echostar Satellite Communications of Colorado is for the supply of Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) switching/combining networks. Mitec Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Myer Bentob said these orders were anticipated, but have come a little later than expected. These contracts will be fulfilled during Q4 Fiscal 1999 and Q1 Fiscal 2000. ----- The delay in receiving these orders could account for the weak share price.
