Ed Lai's big skill is that he is a wheeler and a dealer..some deals have worked out some have not. He knows a lot of people in key positions and one of them is the minister of fianance for uganda. John Turner , a former Candian Prime minister was on the board until last year and I am assuming he had something to do with putting the deal together as well. I don't really know how the nuts and bolts of this all happened but AGU also wanted a piece of the action and was beaten to it by IBIC. Uganda wants visibility in the world community and IBIC provides that..remember when Clinton was in Uganda? That was a huge deal to the Ugandan govt. I really don't know how the deal all came about but it is here now!

One thing that IBIC is doing is putting 15% of it's profits into a social improvment fund for education in Uganda ( i don't know if it is gross or net). This may have had something to do with the deal.

You could call Ed Lai and see if he can flesh out your questions for you.
