ASDV + 6 7/8..and an upgrade to strong buy. I got a question yesterday: Someone said that ASDV was in the newsletter for 10 days and would I explain why it was down the whole time. My answer was somewhat like "because a stock is on the watch list it doesn't mean it must go up but it has the potential for a rise" in the time frame alloted (from the day the watch list comes out until the day after the earnings report) usually before earnings date but also after (as the case for MKG)

I made special mention yesterday on the watch list to keep an eye on ASDV because it was close to earnings and I expected something to move because of the huge disparity with the stocks technical picture as opposed to its huge estimated EPS growth for the reporting quarter. This morning my AB Watley news alerts flashed an upgrade by Smith Barney A DAY before earnings are scheduled to come out.

Although the stock gapped up I got in immediately remembering the chart pattern and the days it was down so much. Now there is nothing better for a stock than to have an upgrade before a potentially blockbuster report. So in answer to the question from the poster, you have to have patience and wait for a signal. The signal could be an upgrade, new product coming out, alliance with someone, or the anticipatory upswing before the report. Very rarely does the stock just lie and stagnate before a report.
