Little Joe: I agree with you, the easiest way for the govt to dig themselves out of the hole is to inflate away their debts, and that's what they're attempting now. Then the only issue becomes one of how bad the damage on the economy will be. In trying to stem a deflation (naively I think) they risk precipitating one, if they end up choking off capital flow to industry should inflation and then interest rates skyrocket. This was the problem the last time they pulled the maneuver in the 70's. Bob
