AAGP Active Apparel Group, Inc.'s Everlast Menswear Available on its Web Site and in Stores

PR Newswire, Wednesday, January 27, 1999 at 07:31

Company's Web Site Receives Over 270,000 Hits Since its Launch

NEW YORK, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Active Apparel Group, Inc.
(NASDAQ:AAGP) today announced the debut of its Everlast men's activewear line
on its Web site, located at www.everlastusa.com as well as on Fashionmall.com.
The company's Everlast menswear products, which include activewear, casual
wear and outer wear, are also being introduced and delivered to retailers.
Active Apparel chairman and chief executive George Q. Horowitz said, "In
keeping with our aggressive schedule, we are pleased to introduce Everlast
men's activewear to our Web site. Over the past month, the site has proven
not only to be a successful new distribution channel, but it has provided us
with market research we did not initially anticipate. In addition to the
invaluable consumer demographic information we have received, we have also
heard from retailers interested in ordering product."
Fashionmall.com president, Ben Narasin, said, "Everlast has been a great
success story from the beginning (on Fashionmall.com). The traffic to the
Everlast site has exceeded our expectations and has been a great launch for
the active and sports apparel section on Fashionmall.com." Since its debut,
the Everlast site has received over 270,000 hits, according to
Fashionmall.com.
In order to generate additional awareness of the site, Active Apparel will
be sponsoring a give-away beginning February 1 for tickets to the upcoming
heavyweight championship bout between Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis. The
contest will be promoted via banner ads on Yahoo!(R). Mr. Horowitz continued,
"This promotion is an extremely cost-efficient means to reach our on-line
shoppers. We intend to fully exploit the Internet as a means of enhancing the
stature of the Everlast brand while marketing to all of our key audiences,
including boxing fans."
Active Apparel acquired the exclusive license for Everlast menswear
products in October 1998, complementing its Everlast women's wear line, which
the company has marketed since 1992.
Headquartered in New York City, Active Apparel Group, Inc. is a designer,
marketer and supplier of women's, girls', and men's activewear, sportswear and
accessories. The Company sells its main product collection under the Everlast
brand name in addition to other exclusive licensing arrangements. The
Company's products are manufactured by third party independent manufacturing
contractors and are sold to over 500 separate accounts, representing over
20,000 retail locations throughout the United States and Canada, including a
variety of department stores, specialty stores, catalog operations and better
mass merchandisers.
This release contains forward-looking statements that involve risks and
uncertainties. The Company's actual results could differ materially from
those anticipated in these forward-looking statements. Factors that may cause
such differences include, but are not limited to, the Company's expansion into
new markets, competition, technological advances and availability of
managerial personnel.
