Street.... Pardon me if I choose not to worship at the feet of the priestess of the Golden Temple. As for believing everything I read.... let's ask if we believe everything we hear..... for all Ole 49r claimed was that one of her "dearest" friends heard that they (the Hunts), had really scored on silver.. rather than being trashed and in debt. She didn't name the source, and since I've been exposed to more than my share of "no sh*t, this really happened" stories, excuse me if I'm slightly skeptical. The Hunt's were a major story at that time and if they had made a haul in silver put options, I feel the story would have leaked. Kinda hard to hide billions in profits from buying silver puts. One thing about Billionaires, Street... They like to accumulate more money and they like to have power. There is no other reason to try to accumulate more wealth than you can possibly spend, except for sheer enjoyment of power. With power generally comes notoriety and the desire to brag about who your buying (take Branson, Gates, Milken, and Trump as ready examples) or who you destroyed. These guys are/were into accumulating companies and property. And they don't mind others knowing when they have been successful. They want to be recognized as players. But they're awful quiet when they fail (like Trump's past failures), for there is no glory in failure. The Hunt's have been off the global financial scene since that time. That tells me they lost big-time and spent the next 10 years or so paying off that debt they owed. Now if the Hunts had done as well as Ole 49r claimed in their silver hedging positions, I would have to believe that they would have been more noticeable over the past 15 years. They certainly didn't need to accumulate more wealth... they were already billionaires. Thus, the conclusion is that they did it achieve power over a certain sector of the market. And they were power hungry then and so blatant in trying to corner the market, I don't see why they have been so quiet as of late. But that is just SWAG on my part. I'm certainly no biographer of their lives and I really don't care. I just applying common sense, that oxymoronic quality so rare in mankind. Regards, Ron
