OTOT...I can't locate the reference source, but if my memory is correct Mr. Buffett once said that all of the Berkshire Hathaway stocks were a bit high. It is basically a holding company and was selling for a good deal more than the underlying assets. Mr. Buffett's reluctance to offer lower priced shares is related to his desire to attract stockholders who are long term holders rather than traders. Apparently he thinks the very wealthy make more reliable stockholders, and he expects their time horizon to be many years. He doesn't like to play what he considers to be the Wall Street Game. I checked out BKH about 6 months ago and decided it wasn't a good investment for me. One of the posters on another thread pointed out that Legg Mason Value Trust Fund has a very similar portfolio. I do own some of this fund as a balance against a portfolio vastly overweighted in tech issues.
BTW, parts of Tennessee (mainly in the middle and eastern parts of the state) are great places to live. No income tax on capital gains!
