If as you suggest, singularity is relative in nature, it must be about a state of relativity. Expand that idea a little to what a system is. A system is closed when its processes repeat, its self contained. Most systems change over time both from interior and exterior flows. A good example are biological systems that mature and adapt within a range of environments. Those are called open systems. Closed systems and singularities would seemto have something in common.
