OT & Disturbing - Drivers Angered Over Firm's Purchase of Photos << Authorities in South Carolina took steps to retrieve millions of drivers license photographs from a private company yesterday, as residents across the state and elsewhere complained bitterly that their images had been sold by motor vehicle officials without their permission. The dispute follows a report in The Washington Post that South Carolina and Florida had begun releasing the photographs for the first time, and in some cases for a penny apiece, to a small New Hampshire firm. Image Data LLC of Nashua, N.H., wants to build a national database of photos and personal information to help retailers prevent fraud.
