I understand why the other OPEC members would want S.A. to relinquish the "Iraqi" portion of its production, but why would the US want S.A. to do this? You think the US wants higher oil prices? Certainly that would help the domestic oil industry, but at what cost to other US businesses, and to Asian economies trying to pull themselves out of recession?
