I agree that surprising sell-offs with seemingly no justification would be a big red flag. There might be a small dose of bad news to trigger it, but the key is that the selling should be clearly disproportionate to the news.

Whereas selloffs on international news (ie. China devaluation) may be buying opportunities, as more foreign money is likely to flow in.

Don't get too excited by today, for the dollar/yen appears to be making a bullish move.
