ATI's mobile graphics chip, RAGE(TM) LT PRO,

chosen for Compaq Prosignia business notebooks

ATI mobile graphics now used in both Compaq Armada and Compaq

Prosignia products - and across a range of Compaq notebooks for small to medium business users

TORONTO, Jan. 27 /CNW/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY; NASDAQ:ATYTF) today announced that the RAGE(TM) LT PRO mobile accelerator, with its unique combination of outstanding 2D, 3D and video performance and leading mobile features, will deliver no-compromise graphics and multimedia to new models in the Compaq Prosignia line of notebooks intended for small and medium enterprise use.

The graphics power and performance of the RAGE LT PRO will drive the business-critical applications demanded by Compaq Prosignia notebook business users, including the full efficiency and productivity promised by the latest business software applications. With this most recent of multiple design wins with Compaq, ATI now supplies the graphics across a range of Compaq business notebooks, in both the Compaq Armada and Compaq Prosignia lines.

Compaq's further selection of the RAGE LT PRO for its newest Compaq Prosignia notebooks is another tribute to the outstanding performance of ATI's mobile graphic accelerator,'' said Lou Leung, Director of Mobile Components Marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. And as demand for high-performance 3D graphics increases, ATI's role in enabling this capability's migration to mainstream notebook PCs has made ATI the leader in this rapidly growing market segment.''

The RAGE LT PRO is a perfect match for Intel's Mobile Pentium II processors (300/333/366 MHz) used in the new Compaq Prosignia 142, 144 and 162 models. The RAGE LT PRO supports the wide range of advanced mobile computing and communication functionality built into the new notebooks, including Internet-based communication and the 3D business applications now beginning to reach the market.

ATI is facilitating true desktop equivalency in the notebook segment and as a result new mainstream portables that use the company's RAGE LT PRO, such as the Compaq Prosignia, deliver high-performance 3D capabilities and other advanced features,'' said Seogju Lee, Research Analyst, International Data Corporation.

ATI's RAGE LT PRO delivers long list of industry first''
mobile
features
The highly integrated design of the RAGE LT PRO saves both
the cost of using separate components, as well as board space. The first mobile accelerator to integrate the Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) transmitter chip for LCD panels, the RAGE LT PRO also uses ATI's advanced power management system, a block-by-block power control, which results in lower power dissipation, helping to achieve longer battery life. The RAGE LT PRO also offers Filtered Ratiometric Expansion,'' which automatically adjusts images to full-screen size. ATI's industry-leading TV-out technology, ImpacTV2+(TM), is integrated with the RAGE LT PRO chip to support multi-screen viewing, i.e. simultaneous outputs to TV, CRT and LCD. In addition, the RAGE LT PRO can drive two displays with different images and/or refresh rates with the use of integrated dual, independent CRT controllers.
