"Could someone please provide me with a brief explanation of the execution systems used by a trader?" <GGG> No such thing as a brief explanation. Some firms offer 4 or 5. Someone give you no choice at all but simply route everything to one place, blindly. We have about 25 execution systems in here ranging from auto-ex, autofill, ECN routing, Soe, SNET, etc. and so forth, and each has about 10, or 20 idiosyncracies. One suggestions would be to look at a couple of good websites that have info on systems. We ahve a yamner library, yamner.com. As well, mtrader.com has some good info.
