Here is a repost from Dick Jurgens that I don't want to 'disappear' into the archives. I've just subscribed once again to the First Call Radar Report as well as my subscription to Net_earnings.com. Both come to $200 a month I am not saying this to 'boast' of the subscriptions but to let you know how earnestly and diligently I am working on it and everything humanly possible is being done. (by the way even First Call was on tv last night and mentioned about a company pre-reporting.) We have come a long way and I can see it with my personal trading. I have traded more 'obscure' plays than ever in the last 2 years and that is mostly due to the increase in accuracy of the report. we are not there yet, but we will be if I have to call the CFO of the company and complain I will.

Thanks for the reply Jenna. Btw, I've been keeping an informal spreadsheet of companies that have had good pre-earnings runs, and it seems like the 3 or 4 days just before the actual reporting date are the best moving days. (They often seem to come directly after a mini-correction, so timing seems very important to get the bulk of the move) {ed. comment yes Dick and ASDV is a prime example]

Lately, it's been important to be OUT of the stock before earnings or if it's a blowout (i.e. msft), no later than the opening bell the next day if I want to be sure to retain my gains.

So it would seem that the correct earnings date is not just the "holy grail", it's the ONLY grail. :^)
