Auric,

AOL held the "index" up during the sell-off.
AMZN, CMGI, & YHOO all fell over 40%.
Unless AOL bombs with earnings today, it probably won't ever decline severe enough to help the index since it is a member of the S&P 500 now. I have to agree a 1987 type decline is what will be needed to win the contest.

BTW, my crystal ball has a 1987 in the not to distant future.
Let me know if I can re-enter the contest then.

Steve

Maybe the contest should be changed to guessing why the index will increase 40% from current levels...try explaining that in 50 words.
p.s. The government will be gridlocked for the next 2 years if Clinton stays. Anyone thinking that Clinton's plan to bail out the market with Social Security money is dreaming. I think beara may be right...nothing is going pop the bubble short of some kind of panic/crash scenario for the general market.
