ME SYMBOL: SOI JANUARY 27, 1999 Maude Lake and Sirios Staking Claims in Lac Rocher Area, James Bay MONTREAL, QUEBEC--The officers of MAUDE LAKE EXPLORATION LTD. ("MAUDE") and SIRIOS RESOURCES INC. ("SIRIOS") are pleased to announce the signature of an agreement relating to claim staking in the Lac Rocher area, James Bay, 120 kilometers north-east of Matagami, near the Nuinsco' nickel-copper discovery. Two staking crews are actually at work in the field. Furthermore, an exclusive staking right request was filed last week with the Ministere des Ressources naturelles du Quebec. Some areas neighbouring the Nuinsco discovery necessitating a government approval are included in this request. MAUDE and SIRIOS are exploration companies active in Quebec. Their shares are listed for trading on the Montreal Exchange under MAU and SOI, respectively. -30-
