Welcome back, Gus. **Morning's News!**
To the Group:
If TVW can assemble an arsenal of these kinds of initiatives and crank out a torrent of press releases, we get a 10-bagger. This stuff moves stocks!
(As an aside, I know the fellow who founded PR Newswire in 1954. A few years earlier, he had also created..."TV Guide!")
Dave Gardy is a solid, impressive guy. Watched the TVW/AXC Webcast a couple of times. Handled it "authoritatively"; he'll play well at media conferences and in front of Wall Street types. Watch for the debut of a redesigned TVW Web site and other stuff. If AXC/TVW can quickly master the black art of creating "Web buzz," it's "go for throttle up!"
Look, this TVW operation needs a better name.com. Too passive, etc. "Narrowcast.com" would be great as it's descriptive, preemptive, funky, and pairs off with broadcast.com. Probably taken. "Webcast.com?" Suggestions?

January 28, 1999: Reston, VA. TV onthe WEB Inc., the first interactive, community-based TV network on the Web, today announced that global information distributor PR Newswire will provide up-to-the-minute news, information and video for "Business UnCut," a new multimedia channel devoted to business and Washington news. PR Newswire will co-develop content for the channel, which is scheduled to go online in late February. It will be located at www.tvontheweb.com
The channel will feature timely video business-based news releases and information from thousands of domestic and international information sources. A highlight of the channel will be regularly-scheduled video programs as well as PR Newswire's news from original sources, presented in an interactive format. Stories can be selected from menus and viewed in the same full-text unabridged data streams that are sent to newspaper and broadcast newsrooms worldwide. TV onthe WEB viewers thus will have access to the full stories behind "tomorrow's news" - today.
"We are delighted to provide PR Newswire's information to TV onthe WEB, a news distribution service that is exploring the cutting edge of Web and television conversion," said John Williams, Senior Vice President of PR Newswire. "PRN is committed to a communications future that includes multimedia, and we are looking forward to the new channel's debut."
PR Newswire has been the world leader in electronic distribution of full-text news releases since founding the industry in 1954. PR Newswire maintains 29 bureaus in the United States and offices in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo, as well as an exclusive partnership with Canada Newswire. The company provides news releases and other information to thousands of news organizations and the financial community using a vast network of wire, fax, e-mail and Internet delivery. PR Newswire and its global arm, PRN International, are preeminent in serving the news release needs of public relations and investor relations professionals worldwide.
TV onthe WEB pioneered new applications in on-demand archiving and live webcasting that have evolved into the TV onthe WEB Network of Channels at www.tvontheweb.com. The network specializes in narrowcasting to specific business-to-business and special interest groups through revenue-generating TV channels underwritten by organizations well known in those niche communities. This unique approach has successfully generated revenue streams from live event, advertising, e-commerce, pay-per-view, and subscription sources, in addition to the income generated from the firm's webcasting services.
TV onthe WEB Inc. announced earlier in the week that it had formed a strategic partnership with Ampex Corporation www.ampex.com (Amex: AXC), and received an investment to finance the continued development and expansion of the Internet's first interactive, community-based TV network. "The Ampex backing is integral to our efforts in meeting the demand for the development of new channels like PR Newswire's News Channel," stated Dave Gardy, TV onthe WEB's Chairman and CEO. "TV onthe WEB is pleased to be able to support this new endeavor in concert with PR Newswire, an innovative leader in business news distribution."
