Tom: As I heard it, two things have changed regarding the banks. They have come to their senses about e-bill and billpay generally, and see they have to get moving. Pete seemed to be trying hard to restrain his enthusiasm on that score, but I sensed he was VERY, VERY pleased with the changed attitude of his core customers.

And secondly, he seemed to be saying that banks -- rather than getting pissed off at CKFR for going to the portals -- are now seeing whatever it is that Pete is doing as their "onramp to the web" ... My guess is that Pete is building a generic e-bill service that ANY portal can use, and that ANY bank can "brand" for itself and use via the web.

Which would be a GREAT strategy. As they say in my business: 'content is king.' Who cares whether you're watching cable or satellite TV as long as you can get HBO and CNN? And who cares which portal you use as long as you can get and pay your bills via CKFR?
