I've never had AOL around earnings time before. My avg. cost is about 140. Should I hold thru here? I've gotten reamed holding thru earnings on a few other stocks recently. Opinions welcome.

Who knows when a split will be announced.....I think the netscape deal needs to go thru before a split actually happens.

Mind,

I partially agree with your prediction.

I don't think the Company will announce a split this afternoon if the EPS blows away estimates. A super EPS number by itself may be enough to maintain the current price of the stock and move it higher. They may hold any split announcement as a trump card for down the road. If the stock sells off (ala IBM), management may then decide to step in and announce a split.

No sense wasting a good split announcement if your EPS will carry you.

Just MHO
