The "Split-vote Trap" : The Democrats have to be careful about the "split-vote trap" -- which is the proposal that the Senate first vote guilty/not-guilty on "findings of fact" and then separately vote on removal of the President from office.

Well, if any Senator did vote guilty on the first vote, the Republicans will mobilize their resources to ensure that his/her office would be flooded with phone calls, faxes and emails as to how the Senator could possibly vote for not removing the President from office after voting that he was guilty of the offenses.

This is the latest desperate act on the part of the Republicans and I am pretty sure that most Democrat Senators are well aware of this "split-vote trap".
