Senate votes against dismissal, approves witnesses

In the first formal sign of how President Bill Clinton's impeachment trial may end, the Senate voted 56-44 Wednesday to reject a move to dismiss the charges of perjury and obstruction of justice against Clinton. While the vote fell largely along party lines, it does indicate the Senate will most likely fail to muster the 67 votes necessary to remove the president from office
