SOURCE: Reuters [WN]

DATE: Wednesday, January 27, 1999

TOKYO, Reuters [WN] via NewsEdge Corporation : NTT Mobile
Communications Network Inc (NTT Docomo) <9437.T> said on Tuesday it is
aiming for 10 million subscribers over the next three years to its new cellular phone
service, "i-Mode" online.

NTT Docomo, a leading Japanese cellular phone operator, said it would launch
new cell phones on February 22 made by Fujitsu Ltd <6702.T> with a function
enabling it to use i-Mode.

NTT Docomo plans to launch i-Mode cell phones made by NEC <6701.T> and
Mitsubishi Electric <6503.T> in March, a spokeswoman said.

The new digital cell phone will allow subscribers to obtain services including
telephone banking, reserving airline tickets and concert tickets, selling and buying
stocks and exchanging email, as well as Internet access and other services.

Subscribers will pay a basic charge of 300 yen a month and also be charged 0.3
yen per packet or 128 bytes of information, which translates to a charge of about
20 to 30 yen per use of a service.

NTT Docomo aims for two million subscribers in the first year, from April, the
spokeswoman said.

She said 67 companies including the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd <8315.T>, DC
Card, Nippon Mutual Life Insurance, Japan Airlines <9201.T>, Bandai <7967.T>
and Nikko Securities Co Ltd <8603.T>, will provide services and information for
the i-Mode service. ((Tokyo Equities Desk +81-3 3432 9404
