Another way should be to boot Win98, choose ShutDown
from the start menu, then choose "Reboot to command prompt"

I rebooted this way into the command prompt.... but I don't know the command to open drive image. DI's path gives a bad command response but I'm unsure how to handle spaces between words.

make a bootable Win98 floppy

Before working with your boot floppy files w/cd access I thought I'd try a simpler boot disk suggested in the DI manual using /S.... to see if memory was the problem. It booted win98 into the command prompt ok but again I don't know the command to open DI. These simple things that I don't know how to do are extremely frustrating :-(

The goal of opening DI from this command prompt boot disk is to see if more memory allocated to it allows me to read that blacked out message or if it wouldn't appear. If not, then I realize I must use your suggested boot disk w/ cd-rom access to install those Matrox Dos utilities. I'm not sure if these dos utility files will run in MS-DOS.
