I was (and still am) an opponent of advertising in the Super Bowl. However, I
have to believe that AAPL's decision was good. Why? I just watched the
FIFTH news report on AAPL's return to the SB, the reasons for it, and what
the commercial is about.

I too am glad for the exposure, but pessimistically assume that it will only serve as whipping post for dozens of PC columnists who will inform the huddled Wintel masses that they too are Y2K compliant..and those Mac users should still fear for their 3rd party software...blah, blah, blah...

Still grooving every time the "Colors" ad airs...wheee...

The "reasons for it" are almost certainly because Apple could not find a buyer for the ad time it no longer needed.

I have a feeling it's gonna be a killer

The ad used to be available on the web until they decided to show it at the super bowl. It was never intended to be on TV. I'm not impressed with it myself. It's nothing fancy. It's not the way I would have addressed the Y2k issue, and so I think the new iMac ad(which is GREAT) would have been more productive.

Well, if nothing else, there is certainly a fair amount of free press coverage prior to the Super Bowl about being an sponsor.

advertising in the Super Bowl.

They better not use that Hal spot. I've already seen it on quicktime. The impact is virtually lost.

Everyone else uses the Superbowl to shock and maze the consumer with new spots. Not show something that's already been circulating.

Maybe a new twist on Hal perhaps.
