Bat management incompetence leads to another multimillion dollar loss!

We saw it with the electric postal vehicles and now it's the HEVs. Due to Bat's inability to complete a project this contract was giving to someone else. There were 5 additional projects given to Calstart companies earlier this month none went to BAT. If you check out Darpa web page you will find that Bat projects are over (uncompleted since they didn't ship two HEVs to Hawaii).

01/27/1999 - Gen'l Dynamics to Build 4 Hybrid EVs for Marines
Washington, D.C. - General Dynamics has been awarded a $22 million
contract to build four prototype hybrid-electric reconnaissance vehicles for the U.S. Marines Corps, a deal that includes an option for up to 39 additional vehicles, reports the Armed Forces Newswire. The new Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting Vehicle (RSTV) uses a gasoline engine and electric drive motors mounted in each wheel hub. The RSTV has a 300-mile range; on batteries alone, it has a quiet, stealthy 10-mile range. Its drive system was jointly developed by General Dynamics and Magnet Motors of Germany, which builds the drive units. General Dynamics is supplying a specialized retractable suspension that enables the RSTV to raise or lower itself for loading into aircraft, particularly the military's Bell Helicopter Textrn-Boeing V-22 Osprey tilt rotor aircraft. The project is being co-sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which provides development funding for cost-shared projects that have applicability to civilian transportation uses.
