Dave,

After reading analyst reports for CMGI, they typically differentiate operating earnings from gains on sales of securities. In my opinion, CMGI should be judged by its gains, however, analysts like to see operating earnings as well. Hopefully, those companies whose earnings flow through to CMGI will be performing well too in addition to the spectacular gains on sale which will be reported (especially if they do sell Lycos at or near this price!!

That would be the double whammy!!

I find it interesting that CMGI is selling 900,000 shares of LCOS, and AOL just announced that their selling 4.93 mil shares of XCIT, that gives AOL 2 Billion in cash.

Maybe these companies think that valuation of some internets have gotten a bit ahead of them selves...
