" I believe in the past that you stated your most successful shorting has been in the 5-10 dollar range. Am I correct? I'm starting to believe that is the way to go. The heck w/high fliers and over valued stocks."

My best short last year was of CFON at just under 9. I boxed and reshorted many times. That name was responsible for about 25% of my trading profits last year.

Another memorable short was KRY at 1 1/16, covered at 7/16. At that time Datek was allowing shorting of any listed stock, regardless of price. After The Venezualen Supreme Court ruled against them, there was nothing there to own.

I haven't seen any high dollar stocks do discount convertibles. Those are the most reliable shorts available.

Sometimes the most obvious shorts are the low dollar stocks. Of course that's why their low priced. Always leave plenty of margin room. You never know when a CFON type might double or triple against you.
