FWIW, I am in for the long haul -- and will not be selling shares any time soon.

Hello to everyone, I bought BRCM last week at 118 7/8. I plan on being a long term holder. However, I am somewhat confused by the way it seems to get lumped in with the internet stocks. This evening on the NBC nightly news Ron Insana was commenting to Tom Brokaw about the big run ups in the web stocks and the web stocks that had announced splits today. There was BRCM in the list with Amazon, E-Bay and a few others. I certainly do not put this stock anywhere in the same category as stocks such as E-Bay. I compare this stock to Dell, Cisco and Intel. It goes into my core holdings.

Best to everyone, Debra

It is these short term traders that push BRCM
high one day and slam it down the next.
Some of them don't even care what BRCM
makes.

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I plan on holding Broadcom for several years. Not sure I would make this a core holding. But the "potential" here is enormous.

Optmaster et al,

Re: I'm a bit baffled by some of the posts recently. Isn't anyone here in this for the long haul? Personally, I plan on holding my BRCM for the next 3-5 yrs.

That's what you say now....but let's pretend that BRCM spikes up today to 200 and plateaus for a bit....I bet you'd be a seller then, realizing that you could probably buy it back later in the day on a drop.

I bought BRCM at 115 and rode it up to 175 the next two weeks where I sold. Didn't like seeing it go up further to 185ish but happy when it dropped back to 120. A bit slow in buying, but back in at 148.

Many people say they are long term investors, but usually events happen that change our perspective.

Happy Investing....

Gary
