Hi ! Impressive Profile BTW... Here are my thoughts on Investing, Margin and stuff.. I started with some cash I received froma Tax refund, and invested it.. I then started buying shares every month or two, and borrowing a bit from my Line of Credit.. Since I was missing out on a lot, I started going hogwild on the LOC, and borrowed to the max.. I then started to use 30-40% margin, and it paid off handsomely... No options yet, as I was still learning... I picked good companies butnever had enough cash to buy much.. Maybe 100 shares of Intel, or 50 shares of Cisco..... Then the October 1997 crash came, then the 1998 one, 2x close calls. neverr got a margin call, but was still scared... Was NOT able to buy the dips, as I was FULLY invested... Now, I have started to sell my Mutual Funds, and since I am tapped out being long (see my profile) on some stocks, I decided to get in to LEAPS... Less money up front, not as dangerous (I hope/Think) as normal options, and they seem like a great way to buy more shares for less money (I can only put aside $ 3000 dollars aside per month as investing/savings). I WANTED DELL very badly, ever since Intel announced last year they were sold out, but I was waiting for some cash.. Never came, so this and last week, fianlly sold $ 5000 worth of MFunds, and bought a total of 3x 2001 LEAP 100's.. Now I feel better, even though I might have paid too much, that I can participate in the GREAT DELL ride, to the tune of options on 300 shares, for a cost of only $ 8400.. BTW, I bought the balance on My margin... My stocks/longs give me margin... I buy more stocks.... then now I have used A BIT of that margin to buy 3x LEAPS.. I am NOT buying anything else for a couple of months (I hope) so that I am able to pay off a bit of my investment debt.. Comments on my sanity, or lack therof, anyone ? Take care Jean Go Intel Go ! a Spli... Yahoo !!!!!!!!!!!!! ... No, not the stock <smile>
