Sorry, guys. See NYC has 'life' of its own. TVW Marketing, II (I have should known, I live there!) Okay, isn't this the position we were talking about in early December? I never actually read the job description at the time, but I recall it was NYC-based. (Was it posted on the Web site then, or did it appear elsewhere?) This appears to be a corporate staff job. Looks like language from a blind display ad that might run in the Sunday "NY Times" or "WSJ"--and probably did. You would get lots of responses, but not many Michael Jordans (well, you *would* get the ex-Westinghouse Michael Jordan, as he's out of a job at CBS!). Based on what we *now* know, this job is Ed B's window to the Ampex "New Media Group," and his vehicle for communicating the "New Ampex" message to the outside world. In addition, it might be a stepping stone to a "Corporate VP, New Media," kind of line job down the road. (Does anyone agree it seems to suggest--however vaguely--that AXC is leaving the door open for consumer electronics? Interesting.) What I hope this position is *not* is AXC's vision of how what I referred to in the previous post is supposed to work. That function's residency belongs at the subsidiary level, directly at TVW. Also, there isn't much suggestion (awareness?) of the down and dirty, "hands on" warfare that the job will actually demand in the real world. In summary, this job's fine, but it's not the *real one*. My earlier comments stand. When you throw in Reiter Associates, the logistics become a little tricky. If at all possible, Reiter should be merged with TVW (which seems to have already been merged with the production company, Gardy McGrath). That way, AXC ends up with a full-service "New Media" operating subsidiary staffed on both coasts--and one step closer to an IPO. Okay, that should give you guys some stuff to beat up. Go right ahead. I'll say just one more thing. If I were hired for this marketing communications job, my first official duty (after negotiating about 17 trillion options and demanding from Ed B., as a condition of employment, that we would return the beloved Ampex name to consumer electronics), would be to log onto SI...and thank you loyal cowpokes for your goddamned wisdom! Now wouldn't that one move be worth a couple of points? BAM
