3DNow support is very pervasive in the game industry. I bought three racing sims for one of my kids and ALL THREE have the 3DNow logo on the box. (Powerslide, Test Drive 5, Need for Speed III) At least in this particular genre, the majority of titles have been coded for 3DNow.

Sure, but now may gamers can afford a $500 processor? Only the extreme ones, who don't make up much of the population of gamers, who don't make up much of the population of Intel's market.
