When the AOl, NSCP & SUNW alliance was formed, there were critics who did not believe the alliance would work. Since AOL's earnings were good, AOL showed the world that it can make it as a Company.

If you view AOL's earnings in this way, you could say that the alliance that SUNW formed with AOL was not a stupid decision on SUNW's part. So, AOL's earnings may give Sun credibility.

AOL's earnings will also inspire confidence in the other networking stocks, I imagine. At least for now.

And good earnings in the tech sector help all the technology stocks. For instance, AOL, CPQ, EMC, STM, TXN all had good earnings.
