You would have to be rich and crazy to short ARP at this stage. I am guessing you mean shorting gold as you said New York. No matter. Gold's price today is not the reason Barrick wants it. It is the expectation that gold will rise over the next 2 years that drives them to buy now. Consolidation of gold producing companies is what they do at times like these. Metals are at the low end of the cycle and it is just a matter of time when recovery becomes inevitable. Of course Barrick will use the price of gold as a lever though. They want it so they will use whatever they can. We can wait if need be!
