Don, Engineers do buy SGI computers. No your right, Engineer's do not buy SGI computers anymore. This N_gin_Ear has seven operating computers (six Ppro class) and three or four sitting on the shelf.
This N_gin_ear has two sw1600 SGI flat panel's. A 21" A 20" A 17" and three 14 monitors.
One Intel ICE system and three Kontron ICE systems. (ICE System's were 30 to 40k when new. 1980) An Apple 2e.
Over the years the computer's I've bougth have used processors 6800,
8080 8085 Z80 6502 8088 8086 80186 80286 80386 80486 some sx's amd 486 dx100 pentium pentium pro and pentium with mxx. Alas many of these system's still clutter my basement. Yes I bought them all. I made a profit in consulting with each several times the cost.

N-gin_Ears don't buy computer's, I'm the exception that proves the rule.
Only thing is, every En-gin_eaR I know has two or more computers at home. hmmmmmmmm...
