Pfizer's Viagra Okayed for Public Sale by Hong Kong Legislators

Hong Kong, Jan. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Hong Kong's Legislative
Council approved the local sale of Viagra, Pfizer Inc.'s anti-
impotency drug, the South China Morning Post reported. While the
vote means Viagra could be legal for use by prescription as early
as Feb. 5, Pfizer said shipping the drug from its Australian
plant could take as long as a month. Hong Kong's estimated
200,000 impotent men may have to bear the HK$100 ($12.92) retail
cost of each pill themselves, as a panel of experts advised the
government Hospital Authority not to pay for the drug.

In June, Hong Kong police arrested three men and seized 18
bottles of Viagra during a raid on a pharmacy selling the drug
illegally.
