Professor,

I had a full-fledged, frontal war with Benjamin at about the same time!! He even tried to ridicule me by copying my earlier posts regarding the performance of ODIS's stockprice...
I think that by now, he must have got his pink slip. Or maybe he isn't rich enough to pay for his SI subscription fee anymore? Who knows... So many angry VSNT shareholders running after him... Fugitive?

I'd gotten the impression that VSNT and ODIS were really targeting
different markets. VSNT was going after the large enterprise scale
accounts (more scalable, more secure, etc.) and ODIS was targeting
the smaller scale developers (more ubiquitous). Not to say that they
might not stray into each other's turf, mind you.

VSNT continues to get good wins, but they've came infrequently enough
to make the old business model untenable. Hopefully Ordon's arrival
and effort to reach smaller clients will bring VSNT a steadier income
stream rather than the herky-jerkiness of the past. Unfortunately,
the transition is not yet complete and neither is the bleeding.

ODBS's are the future of databases, and both ODIS and VSNT are still
pioneering its spread. Whether VSNT will survive to profit from the
continued spread is the real question, isn't it.

As for Benjamin, I don't know him, so I can't help you there. Maybe
he's still lurking. Maybe he's long gone. I certainly don't know
enough about the technical merits of either company's products to
debate the merits of one over the other.
