Vitesse has done very well in the last couple of years, to say the least. What do they make, high speed GaAs chips for communications and networks? That's been a high growth area and it's obviously pulling Vitesse with it. Broadcom seems to be in the same products and they're all silicon. TI, LSI, ADI are other more established companies also in similar products. There is a semiconductor expert on another thread (I don't like to quote people on SI) who, when asked about Vitesse and GaAs, also said he didn't see how GaAs could survive long term. Still, they're small enough of a niche that maybe nobody goes after them? Note that Vitesse's chips are very low density, but very high speed, compared with the major CMOS applications, MPU and RAM. That was the original idea I responded to, relating Vitesse to possibly getting into RAM. No way. VTSS doing great today.

But, here it is: WDIK.
