Well I'm happy to know that you think NDS is central to Novell's success

I'm also happy that Schmidt took your email and went over it with his senior staff. Did you have any clues in there for them about making NDS an industry directory standard?

Can't be done with the installed Netware base. Can't be done with PR campaigns and huff and puff. Can't be done by "getting focused". Can't be done by decree.

You must be aware that the centrality of NDS was in place long long before being Novell CEO was a glimmer in Schmidt's eye. This priority did not arrive at Novell with him. The question is and always has been --- how do you make that happen.

My suggestion is Digital Me. Take a look at the Davos Conference. The participants use their badges to access the network. Probably the sessions they attend or want to find out about, the web site access and everything else is controlled through NDS. My understanding of Digital Me in some ecommerce version is that we merely take this to the level of a secure storage of digital identities and the use of Novell's NDS as the basis for ecommerce transactions.

You have a better idea for making Novell's directory products an internet standard then by all means let's hear it. In the meantime why don't you use your acceptance by Novell's hierarchy to button hole MR. Slitz and ask him to rethink the use of Digital Me in ecommerce?

Incidentally I REMEMBER Schmidt's promise to make Novell an internet leader in first one year then two then .......

Is Novell an internet leader today? How exactly does Novell plan to become an internet leader?

I have no idea how Novell becomes an internet leader without a product like Digital Me!
