Peter, It is true that Compaq has tried to tart up their numbers so they are hard to analyze, but they are fairly easy to interpret when you start with the concept that they are trying to trick the reader. Then you just have to figure out how they did it. Actually, the receivables bulge makes great sense when the distributors tell you that Compaq offered huge incentives to them to take over 100,000 boxes off their hands late in the quarter. It is just that we do not hear that story from Compaq, so we have to connect their fantasy numbers with clues from other sources.

Nobody who is not a co. tout has access to any numbers we do not have. And you sure aren't going to get a straight answer from a co. tout.
