actually, they sold the amzn and only have a tenth of that 225,000 figure right now

i believe that yahoo shares that they will receive in exchange for their gcty shares would not be considered a gain or cash received unless they actually sold the yahoo shares after they received them

please correct or add to this anyone - thanx m

SOFTBANK ownes 23% of GEOCITIES and 30% of YAHOO

This is a copy from the subject: softbank , the stock seems to me much more interesting
than cmgi...

.....

To all American net investors.....

Softbank (9984) a Tokyo Stock Exchange listed company owns stakes in Yahoo!,
GeoCities, E*Trade and ZDNet.

Surely you should be buying this stock as a cheap way into these US names. It's much
cheaper than David Wetherells's CMGI Inc.

Any comments.
Thanks

.....

Below are the largest investments of Softbank:

31% Yahoo
28% E*Trade
6% CyberCash
23% GeoCities
72% ZiffDavis
25% Trend Micro
30% Message Media

There are a lot of other smaller investments in Internet start-ups.

Calculate the value of the Yahoo holding and compare it to the total Market Cap of
Softbank and you'll see that the Yahoo holding alone is worth as much as Softbank.
