Jan -- I swim with sharks almost every day, so the analogy is closer to home than I would like.

What sharks do is bump into you to see what you are made of.
Then they swim around you for a while and stare.
Then, if they think you are vulnerable, they come and take a good big bite to see if they can wound you.
They are cowards because they don't want to fight you.
They don't need to fight you if they have chosen their prey properly.
They wait.
They circle you and watch you bleed and struggle (to stay above water in the case of a person)
The smell of blood excites them and attracts other sharks.
When you are defenceless, they move in a rip you to pieces.
This is the recipe for successful shorting.
I have nothing against shorting, but it seems most people
who short could learn something from the shark.
The sharks are circling AMZN.
