The real estate industry and the S&L's pretty much snared everybody. If so many congressmen can get caught with their hands in the Congressional postage stamp scandal, it's no wonder. McCain took in $ 800,000 as I recall. Considering how hard the S&L and real estate problem hit Arizona financial institutions as compared to other states, he was at the front lines of the problem. Sort of hard to miss it. Not to mention all those CD's that were claiming to pay 14% in the mid to late 80's. How could banks and S&L's be paying that much?
