The progress of a culture is a simple enertial system ... it's acceleration being governed by the mass of obsolete technology it expels to propel it forward. Therefore, I would expect those who take the longest view to welcome the production and excretion of Edsels as a reliable sign that the powerplant is functioning. No cable here. Meanwhile, I run 768k in both directions and smile. And, I suppose, move more rapidly forward.
