I'd agree that the original decision is perhaps flawed constitutionally. But it's another culture war can of worms. If you want to open it up again, you should be direct and straightforward about it. I'd agree also that a voting commitment from the nominees would be improper, but if it's going to be a litmus test, as I'm sure it was with Thomas, there ought to be at least a smidgen of honesty about it.

Politically, overturning Roe v. Wade is a loser by most indications. That's why I expect it will be softpedaled in the Y2K campaign, just as impeachment was, mostly, before the last election.
