Fwiw I see Dell and Sun as diametrically opposed to one another. If you really believe in one then the other doesnt make sense imo. Example Sun is the absolute worst in mfg I have seen in high tech. Dell is the best. So if you believe that mfg is a key advantage, it would be hard to invest in Sun on that basis alone. I agree Bill Joy is quite a brilliant guy.

The smartest man in the valley eh...

He used to be known at SUNW as the guy who wrote the Vi text editor which is sort of a knock off of an old DEC text editor. He was rarely ever noticed at SUNW. However, a lot of money placed in the hands of a public relations firm
can make anyone into the second smartest guy in Silicon Valley. <G>

Andy Bectolsheim was a much more prominent participant at SUNW than Bill Joy. But alas he is gone now so they can't use him for an icon.
