re. AMD in servers
The IBM Netfinity 5500 server that I am installing comes with a PII installed but the motherboard contains an integrated 10/100 ethernet adapter which runs on an AMD chipset . So while many businesses are brainwashed into believing that only Intel makes reliable semiconductors that doesn't apply to IBM since they chose AMD for the on the Mainboard ethernet , a critical component in a network .
The ethernet chip today , K7 tomorrow .
