Scumbria, re: <They have been obsessed with trying to kill off AMD>
You're probably right. Kind of like MSFT's apparent obsession with killing competition?
I just wanted to explain my reluctance to be accusatory.
BTW, while I'm an Intel shareholder, I think the industry needs AMD. And like Paul, I'll probably invest. Starting to look like a good play.

Significance of the NEC announcement:

It is the confirmation that the fix is working and producing those 400 Mhz chips NOW.

Why:
In the latest CC, Jerry tied the announcement of the new top one tier desktop OEM with the availability of the 400 Mhz based on the fix.
The backup evidence from ML's update today also confirms the conclusion.
Further, today's price of 400 mhz at thechipmerchant.com has declined about 6 buck from that of two days ago and declining price often suggest a better supply.

Keep up the good work, AMD! And go, go to get Gateway!

Re: "They have been obsessed with trying to kill off AMD for many years. The countless lawsuits, the threats to OEM's who used AMD processors, the PII bus, etc."

By your statements it appears that you think Intel shouldn't mind another company stealing it's intellectual property. Furthermore I find it surprising that you can't seem to grasp the advantage of the P6 bus protocol over the older obsolete Socket7. Perhaps you just like bashing Intel and if you don't have a good reason you'll make one up.
