Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN - news) today announced that it has increased the size of its private offering of Convertible Subordinated Notes (the ''Notes'') from $500 million to approximately $1.25 billion aggregate principal amount of 4.75% Convertible Subordinated due 2009.

Thank you very much for explaining. I really had no clue. I have one question still maybe I am dense.

"Demand for the offering will determine where the coupon is. At 5% on $500mm that's
$25mm/yr, cash not paid-in-kind (i.e., more paper for walls)."

Is this paper stock? I am missing how the bond owner receives the interest during the term.
