I have seen many claims of superiority for the K7/Alpha bus however I have not seen anyone back up those claims. In fact I believe those claims are groundless. It does run faster now (at least the foils do) however the Intel bus will scale to at least as high frequencies as well. The point to point nature seems useless in view of the expensive ultra high pincount needed to do SMP and where is the advantage when Intels much cheaper low cost bus doesn't reach saturation when large L2s are used?
