Very wrong as Web retailing is totally different. When everywhere is a mouse click away, with every web store offering the same, profits will be hard to come by for a verie verie long time. That's what they will be saying pretty soon. IMO.

I don't believe this is the case for most of the items people are purchasing over the web. I believe that scenario B below is much more common, and in fact dominant:

A. Most web shoppers care a great deal about price, and will seek out the lowest price for most products they are buying. All they have to do is check a few stores, or visit a shopping bot.

B. Most web shoppers, while conscious of the price they are paying, will narrow their selected e-vendors to which offers them reliable service, a trustworthy web site and reputation, and good selection.

I think B is winning out. Otherwise, why does Amazon still have 64% of sales to repeat customers? We'll have to watch this data, but I don't expect to see shopping bots do much harm to Amazon.com.

Where I do think e-shoppers will almost always shop around is on higher-priced items. If someone is buying a printer, they will almost certainly price shop.
